The colourful world of parrots

Parrots

We associate parrots with hot weather, but we have species among them that can tolerate low temperatures extremely well. These include Rosellas, Monkeys, Patagons and above all, Chinese Alexandrets, which can be seen in the wild even at minus temperatures.

All parrots lay their eggs in a hollow, but here too we have a unique species. Well, lowland monkeys are the only species that lays eggs, in nests that they make beforehand. These are sometimes large and heavy structures.

At first glance, it is difficult to distinguish the sexes in parrots. The exception to this is the Dyer. For many years they were regarded as two separate species. The male is bright green and the female is red and blue.

All parrots are frugivorous or granivorous. With one exception. Kea parrots will not refuse a delicious meal from a fallen sheep, in addition to their constant dissection. In our Parrottery you will find parrots such as Sapphire Aryas which are critically endangered in the wild or Molucca Cockatoos.
